My fellow brothers and sisters,

My deepest apologies for not updating the site during examination period. I was too carried away with examinations and planning on the missions trip that will be coming up soon. Today, I would like to talk a little bit about Spiritual Renewal, and why prayer is so important in all aspects.

Trust me, I’ve been in times when I feel spiritually drained. Especially during exams when there is a lack of sleep and lack of variety of thoughts (all my exams are engineering related), I feel spiritual dryness, and even feel the resistance to go pray or read the Bible. However, these are deceptions that the evil one has planted in front of us, to look so much into the things that happen in front of us and not to God. It is easy said but very hard to fulfill. However, we should not hesitate when advising people we love about this (people we love includes all peers, not just spouses, crushes, etc) since these are God’s words (Psalm 105:4 tells it all) and by allowing the Holy Spirit to speak through us, we understand wonderful things that we haven’t noticed previously.

We should also look into Scripture to remind us why we are here. The term sacrifice in Romans 12:1 means that we must be sacrificial, we must forfeit what we originally want and follow Him. We need to forfeit our earthly views and look into the almighty God for everything!

Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:1-2 (NIV 1984)

Notice that it is renewing of the mind, not renewal. God always pours new wine (Luke 5:37) into us constantly, so we need to be constantly renewing ourselves and changing our wineskin in order to accept what blessings God has to pour into us.

Through the renewal of my own spirit, I am called for evangelism and I will be going on a missions trip from the 7th to 20th. Please pray for me and also for the Holy Spirit to speak through me to those who are listening to me, pray for God to soften their hearts and pray for me to learn things and bring it back to my Christian community here in Toronto.
